Nevada Adds 4,000 Jobs in July as Unemployment Falls
Nevada’s economy added 4,000 jobs in July 2026, lifting statewide nonfarm employment to 1,612,500 and cutting the jobless rate to 5.0%. Trade, transportation and utilities led with 2,700 jobs. State and local government added 1,400, and education and health services added 1,300.
Over the past year, Nevada added 17,500 jobs, a 1.1% increase, ranking fifth nationally in year-over-year percentage growth. Professional services and health care led that annual gain at more than 4%. Las Vegas added 2,300 jobs in July and 9,900 over the year.
CompTIA, a national IT industry group, projects Nevada tech jobs will grow 4.2% in 2026, the fastest rate among states and more than double its 1.9% national forecast.
For context, the U.S. added 162,000 jobs in August, more than double forecasts, with unemployment holding at 4.1%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics..
