Nevada teacher pay sits in the national middle
Nevada is neither among the highest-paying nor the lowest-paying states for teachers, according to 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data. Washington, California, and the District of Columbia pay teachers the most. Washington high school teachers earned $102,700, about 57% more than Nevada’s.
Oklahoma, Mississippi, and South Dakota were at the bottom. Oklahoma high school teachers earned $48,700, about 35% less than Nevada’s.
The national median for pre-K through 12th grade teachers was about $65,100. High school teachers earned about $72,300.
In Nevada, teacher pay ranged from $55,160for preschool teachers to about $66,300 for middle school teachers. Middle school pay was about 3% higher than the national median. Nevada high school teachers earned about $65,520, 9% lower than the national median.
Teachers still out-earn the typical Nevada worker, whose median wage is around $47,700.
